FAQs

alpha Kappa Delta Phi is not an organization on my campus. How can my campus start a chapter?

Please view our Expansion page and contact us with your interest. You can also talk to your university’s Greek Life office about this topic.

What is expected of a new member?

The purpose of sorority education consists of education about the sorority and chapter. New members should demonstrate a desire and ability to support alpha Kappa Delta Phi’s sorority standards. Hazing, defined as “any action taken or situation created to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule,” is not condoned nor tolerated.

What is a legacy?

A legacy refers to someone who is an immediate family member of one of our sisters. We extend all of our support and welcome into our sisterhood our sister’s sisters and daughters. When an immediate family member rushes the sorority, her family member should inform the chapter of the legacy status. However, a chapter may ultimately decline membership to a legacy if she does not meet the new member criteria set by the chapter.

Are there scholarships?

Yes! Our National Alumnae Board hopes to contribute to the successful future of exemplary active sisters who continue to uphold the standards and integrity of alpha Kappa Delta Phi. NAB currently offers a scholarship program in which actives can apply for at their website.

Does attending recruitment commit individuals to joining the sorority?

Though the weeks and events vary from chapter to chapter, participating in recruitment does not mean you are obligated to join. It is purely a time for you to explore your interest in alpha Kappa Delta Phi and determine if membership is something you would like to pursue.

Do I have to be Asian to join?

Definitely not. As an organization that seeks to promote cultural awareness, we hold the concept of equality in the highest regard. alpha Kappa Delta Phi does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, age, national origin, or sexual orientation. We are an all-inclusive sorority. Any womxn who shares similar interests and values is encouraged to join regardless of their own cultural identity. alpha Kappa Delta Phi is composed of the diverse backgrounds and lifestyles of each individual sister. Each member adds her unique experience and spirit to the sorority, building the sisterhood that we are so proud of. We encourage ambitious and motivated womxn interested in enhancing their college years (and beyond) to attend recruitment or start a chapter.
