aKDPhi Stance on Sexual Misconduct

alpha Kappa Delta Phi International Sorority does not tolerate or condone any form of sexual misconduct. We stand by and support survivors and are committed to providing a safe environment free of harassment, exploitation, discrimination, or abuse.

aKDPhi is taking all necessary and appropriate actions to prevent and address sexual misconduct in the organization and allegations associated with our members, while taking into account the needs and voices of survivors.

The International Leadership Board is aware of the allegations of involvement with one of our members in this misconduct. We take these reports seriously; and we are conducting an in-depth review to determine the appropriate resolution.

We condemn acts of sexual assault, sexual misconduct, and sexual harassment. We also recognize these acts have and do occur in the fraternal community, and that change to the culture needs to occur across the board. We understand that survivors of sexual assault may look to fraternal organizations to take legal or criminal action against alleged perpetrators of sexual misconduct because our societal systems may be unjust and inadequate.

However, it is important to note there are legal limitations and restrictions on our authority and the actions we can take as an organization. Please know we are committed to doing everything we can within the scope of our control to eradicate sexual misconduct, and that we will work to advocate and support on your behalf.

CURRENT INITIATIVES

We are committed to taking the following steps to help address issues of sexual misconduct and sexual violence in our organization.

  • We will educate our members about all forms of sexual misconduct, including sexual assault and sexual harassment, by developing workshops and trainings. This also includes bystander training. Members will be required to complete training on an annual basis.

  • We will thoroughly investigate allegations of involvement of misconduct brought forth against our members or chapters.

  • We will review and revise our policies and procedures to strengthen accountability and compliance among our members.

  • We will provide resources and support to members who survive sexual assault.

  • We will advocate for change within the broader fraternal and campus communities by working closely with our fellow NAPA organizations.

  • We will create an internal Task Force to hear our members’ concerns and work together to foster a safer community.

Thank you to all the survivors who have bravely shared their stories and for the community members who have contacted us directly with concerns and feedback. Additional questions or concerns can be directed to bod@akdphi.org.
